Sophie's Sponsorship Page
Sophie came to us with a sad story but a very positive attitude. Sophie's loving owner had to give her up after 7 years due to health issues and wanted to ensure she had a chance to find her next best possible home. Sophie was a pixie at 2 and is now a pixie again at 9 years old.
Sophie took a few days to warm up to her foster moms, but every day she opens up more and more and shows off different aspects of her very goofy personality. Sophie loves to go for walks, loves to be told she is a good girl, and loves sitting right next to you on the couch. While Sophie loves walks and does wonderful on a leash, she will need a fenced yard as she will not go to the bathroom on walks.
Sophie would not eat the first few days but it turns out she is a very hungry puppers getting extremely excited at meal time and eating very fast. She absolutely LOVES treats and knows the word well!
Sophie was the only dog in her original home but she is doing very well her foster mom's other dogs, she would do great as an only dog or another calm, low energy dog.
Sophie does NOT enjoy being around men, she has shown fear based aggression toward men that approach her in her home. Sophie warms up to women quickly, she can be timid and shy at first but once she warms to her person she becomes their shadow. She spends her days laying on the floor right next to the wheels of her foster moms work from home office chair, or laying next to her on the couch soaking up love and pets. Sophie loves attention from her person, and would do best in a quiet, single person home.
Sophie is crate trained, potty trained (outside and potty pads) and does well on a leash. She loves to explore the yard and has the confidence to be a bit mischievous. She can be quite clumsy, often tripping over her herself and pretending she did it on purpose.
Sophie has not been exposed to cats or children.
Sophie's perfect furever home would be a quiet one where there is somebody home with her most of the time, either work from home or retired.
Sophie will require regular grooming every few months.
Sophie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. She has also had a dental with extractions while with us. Sophie's bloodwork has shown slightly elevated levels of creatinine but she is not on any medication. Her adoption fee is $300
