Jade's Sponsorship Page
Jade is an 8-pound terrier mix found severely abused on the streets of Texas. She is between 1-3 years old. She had a hernia that protruded through the skin with intestines visible. The vet did not think she would even make it through surgery let alone ever be healthy enough for adoption but here she is….. on her way to Buffalo to find that happy ever after! In addition to the hernia and intestine repair, it was discovered that she was heartworm positive and received treatment for that as well! She has also fully recovered from a nasty case of kennel cough! So to say she has it pretty rough the past few months is an understatement but she never let it get her down! She is such a brave girl with a strong will to live! Jade is an amazing little dog! She is crate trained, she walks well on a leash, she appears housebroken but is also pee pad trained. She has learned simple commands such as No, down, stay, and come! Jade enjoys riding in the car and basically going anywhere with her family but she will jump out the window (even if the car is moving) so she needs a crate, car seat, and or seat belt for sure! She can also jump a baby gate so if you plan on gating her make sure it’s a tall one. Jade is fostered with small dogs and cats. She likes to play with the other dogs, especially tug of war. Some days she is a ton of energy and some days she just wants to snuggle on your lap! She likes laying on her back for belly rubs and she sleeps right up against her foster mom in bed at night. Jade is a shy dog! She loves her people but new people take just a few minutes for her to warm up to. She is a submissive dog, sometimes rolling on her back when she is afraid. She is not a big barker, she has never growled but she does Yelp sometimes when she is being picked up. The vet has assured us it’s due to fear of when her belly was painful (she remembers) but that she is not in any pain now. This has improved greatly since she has been in rescue but she does need a little warning and for you to be gentle with her. Due to her past, we would prefer Jade go to an adult-only home. If there are other dogs they need to be around her size. She does not require a fence and she would be a great apartment dog. If you think this girl may be a match for you please apply! Jade is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated. Her adoption fee is $450. Jade is scheduled to arrive in Buffalo on October 16th but we are accepting applications now.
