Kaydee's Sponsorship Page
Kaydee is a 2.5 year old Boston Terrier. She is just 12 lbs. She came to us from Texas as an owner surrender and Heartworm Positive. She has gone through heartworm treatment but she will need to remain on heartworm preventative for her lifetime. We just want to say Kaydee is all Boston!! We would venture to guess that her last family had no idea what it was like to own a Boston Terrier and She ended up living in a cage on their cement porch for most of her life. This will not happen to her again as Boston Experience is a MUST for her new home. Kaydee is very curious, very puppy-like – she is making up for the lost time I guess – and will need a patient family to gently Guide her through life. She can be a little destructive as it seems hard for her to know what is hers and what is not. Everything is a toy to her. She is easily corrected but she just needs supervision. Kaydee remains a little Mouthy in her foster home. It seems like someone used their hands to play with her as a pup. She is also a little sensitive around her tail area. When she gets excited or you go towards her tail even just petting she mouths your hands HARD. It is just played as she does not have a mean bone in her little body but for these reasons, we will not be placing her with young children. Kaydee is a very sweet little girl. She is very submissive in a lot of ways and actually listens quite well. She doesn’t respond well to yelling even if it's not at her and must have received some pretty Harsh punishment as she cowers when you go to pick her up which absolutely breaks our hearts. It is totally unnecessary because when she is doing something wrong she is easily corrected by just saying Her name. She comes right away when she is in the yard and just bounces when she runs to you. She is very happy to have freedom And VERY happy to have love. She loves to play! She loves and truly appreciates EVERY SINGLE TOY that is given to her. Her favorite thing in the entire world is your old water/Pepsi bottles. Kaydee is always smiling and always bouncing about the house without a care in the world as Bostons do. She has a funny little personality and her crazy antics make us laugh every single day. For such a little dog she just has such a huge presence about her, We love her and she will be missed very much. Kaydee does also have downtime and becomes very cuddly when she is tired. I find her sucking on blankets and the sides of dog beds when she is getting sleepy. She enjoys sitting on your lap, especially at night, and loves belly rubs. She loves attention and she literally smiles when she knows she has pleased you. She loves food and we will tell you she was quite emaciated when we got her. She use to eat her food so fast she would throw up. She doesn’t do that anymore but we are still working very hard on her manners. Kaydee is fostered with other dogs and can sometimes be shy when she first meets one (especially if they are energetic) but it doesn’t take her long to warm up. And then look out because the wrestling matches begin. She is a lot of energy and loves to run in the yard- her favorite game is chase- especially if the other dog Is a super-fast runner like her! That being said if there is another dog in the home it must match her energy level in order for both dogs to be happy. Kaydee is not leash trained so a fenced-in yard is required (no invisible fences please). She is leash trainable but she had been sick for so long in her foster home we had just not worked on it with her and she just kind of stands there and Isn’t quite sure what to do. It’s apparent she was not walked in her previous home. She is very smart and will get it once she gets settled in with her new family. She is 100 percent crate trained and never makes a peep when inside one and appears housebroken With a doggy door. However, when She was in a home visiting without a doggy door she did have accidents as she doesn’t know how to ask to go out so that will need to be Worked on in her new home. We expect her new family to have to start at the beginning. So IF you have Boston Terrier experience, understand their energy level and crazy personalities, have a love for the breed, patience of a saint, and a safe a loving home for Kaydee please apply. We will be very choosy about where she ends up and we do expect her to get a lot of applications. Kaydee is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated. Her adoption fee is $600 - this will contribute to her high medical bills along with helping the other dogs in our rescue.
