Evie's Sponsorship Page
Calling all scruffy terrier lovers! Evie Pooh is now available for adoption. Evie was found as a stray in the city of Buffalo and turned into the CBAS. The staff at the shelter quickly realized that Evie was very fearful and needed some extra help. They reached out to us, and of course we said we would help. Evie was terrified when she first arrived. But after several months of working with her, we can tell you anything you would want to know about her. She is very sweet and loving, full of kisses, but she also needs a person who is going to continue to guide her down the right path to becoming the most amazing companion possible.
Evie is fun, faithful, and very loving to those she trusts. She gets along well with other dogs. She currently does not live with cats in her foster home, but we can only assume that she would be fine with them in time. Evie is not a “plug in” dog. She needs a specific home to help her blossom. She does not trust people easily so her new family will need to give her the time she needs to become familiar with them. Evie becomes defense when she is afraid or thinks that she is in trouble. Evie is stubborn. If you want her to do something she does not want, she will grumble and growl to tell you she is disappointed and unhappy. A form “knock it off” stops that and she will sulk away doing what you asked of her. She is very expressive about her feelings. Evie will sing when she is happy or excited. She can’t contain her joy so it just comes out. She is a fantastic watch dog and does bark when she hears people. She is not a dog for an apartment lifestyle. Evie likes to be outside and will go out as often as you let, but she will also use a potty pad if needed. Evie absolutely hates the crate. She cannot settle down and will cry the entire time she is in it. For this reason her foster mama either leaves her behind a gate, or lose in the living room when she is gone all day for work. Again though, a potty pad is left out for in case it’s needed.
Evie walks like a perfect gem on the leash, so a fenced in yard is not required for her, but no electric/invisible fences please. Evie would not do well in a home with small children, so we are recommending a home with older, more mature children who are older than 14 for her. Evie loves to sleep In bed next to her mom. Her favorite spot though is curled up on the back of the couch while you watch TV. Evie has started to play with toys recently. It’s actually very funny to watch. She will paw at them, put her mouth on it, then walk away from it. She will look at you to make sure you saw it. When you say, what are you doing Evie, she will go back and do it. Evie is a little bit of an odd one though. She like to roll in her mama’s sneakers! As soon as her mom come home from work, Evie will stick her nose right in the shoe. Next thing you know she will start rolling around in it. So apparently she doesn’t mind stinky feet actually seems to like them! Evie will not be your best friend right away, but once she gains your trust. she will never leave your side. She will follow you all around the house to make sure you are not lonely. Cooking dinner, she’s there watching you, if you get up to go outside there she is, she will even stalk you while you shower. If you think you can give Evie the perfect forever home, please make sure you apply today. Evie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. She has also had a dental. Her adoption fee is $250
