Sassy
Sassy came to our rescue from a local Pit Bull rescue that saved her but could not keep her. Sassy was a 10 year old female used for breeding and then thrown away when she could no longer produce. She was found in an apartment building crying in a corner and was taken to a shelter. She was not spayed, she had horrible teeth and her body was riddled with cancer. Once again, we were reminded of the hard part of rescue. Not all dogs find their forever homes after a life of breeding and neglect. We did what we could to keep her comfortable and make sure her quality of life was good. We gave her a home, love and attention - something she likely never had before. She stayed with us for 5 months before she took a turn for the worse. I think one of the hardest things anyone can ever do is to make that life or death decision for a dog. We could no longer let Sassy suffer and decide to let her go on February 13, 2009.
