Learn more about the Chihuahua. Meet Mouse Mouse! Talk about a little chihuahua who is absolutely amazing. Mouse traveled from Texas in the hopes of finding her forever home. She is a 5 year old, 12 pound chihuahua mix.
Mouse is a very sweet and loving girl. Everyone who meets her agrees that she is nearly perfect, and falls in love with her. It’s Mouse’s eyes. They are kind and gentle, just like her soul. Mouse is not a barker and is completely crate trained. She enjoys going outside and laying in the sun. When it’s raining out, or when there are fireworks, Mouse will use the potty pads in her foster home. Mouse is an excellent leash walker and enjoys being in the car. She gets along great with other dogs, and we can only assume she would be fine with cats. Mouse is very laid back and has an excellent temperament. She loves sitting on the couch with her family. When she does, Mouse will place her front feet on your legs and stare at you to pet her. She is not a big player, just more of a lover. If she could sit on your lap all day, Mouse would. At bedtime, Mouse loves to sleep in the bed with you. But she won’t sleep just anywhere, she insists on sleeping on your pillow with you.
When Mouse was first taken in by our rescue partners, it was discovered that she was heartworm positive. She was of course promptly treated for it, but the worms left some scarring on her lungs. Those scars can fill up with fluid causing her to cough. To help alleviate this, Mouse is on Lasix once a day. It is usually given to her in the morning with her breakfast. The Lasix helps to dry out the fluid in the scars. She can also be given an inhaler in the evening if needed before bed. This routine has been very helpful for Mouse. She will still cough every now and then, but in the last month of Mouse being with us, she has vastly improved. We know she is ready to continue her journey to finding her forever home.
Since Mouse was heartworm positive at one point, it is imperative that she remain on heartworm prevention for the remainder of her life. Sadly if Mouse contracts the disease again, her little body may not be able to withstand the treatment again.
If you can give Mouse the perfect home, make sure to apply today. Mouse is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated. She will come with her medications and heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $400
