Learn more about the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. How many dog kisses per day is too many? If you answered there is no such as thing as too many doggie kisses – then Skye is the girl for you! Skye is an 8-year-old Cavalier King Charles mix who came into rescue when her owner could no longer take care of her. She is FULL of love for everyone she meets.
Skye is black as midnight with a white chest & tummy and black polka dot stockings. Her hair is softer than velvet and she loves to be petted and scratched behind her ears. She may be a little too big for a lap dog, but that doesn’t stop her - she wants to be with her people all the time. Wherever the family has gathered – save a seat for Skye!
Skye walks on a leash like a dream and loves to go for walks. The mere sight of the leash sets off excited yips and a happy dance. She also loves to ride in the car and somehow thinks every outing must include Tim Hortons or Starbucks for a pup cup. This girl is well acquainted with drive-thru etiquette!
Skye has a little weight problem (like a lot of us!) and is working on slimming down (like a lot of us!) so her pup cup adventures are significantly reduced. She is learning that small chunks of apple and baby carrots are almost as good. For her own health she needs to lose weight – her new family will need to continue to help her on that journey. Weight loss is easier for everyone with the love and support of friends and family.
Sky goes potty outside but also uses potty pads because her foster mom works. She does great with the other dogs in her foster home. She is a typical hippie chick – good vibes, going with the flow, no stress, no worries, just hanging out and loving life.
Skye is not a nuisance barker, but she will bark when you try to leave her. She will eventually settle down, but she is going to voice her opinion about you going to work or shopping – or even just out to get the mail! She will also bark when it is time to eat and you are moving too slow with the dish. Food is of top interest to this little lady – right up there with seeing the leash, riding in the car, and fitting herself into someone’s lap. Her priorities are right on display for everyone to see, she knows what is important in life.
Skye will need to be groomed on a regular basis – her hair can grow long and then be tangled and matted easily, causing stress & pain to her skin if this is not under control. Please be aware of on-going grooming costs if you are considering Skye as a potential family member. Ask any woman you know – it takes time and effort and cash to be beautiful – but she knows she is worth it! And so is Skye.
Skye has not been tested with children or cats, but with such an easy-gong disposition, we do not think it would be an issue for her. She is pure happiness covered in fur, looking for her forever home.
Skye is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $450
