Introducing sweet little Bambi or Bambina as we like to call her. Bambi is a 9 year old shihtzu poodle mix who is a local owner surrender. Talk about a sweetheart of a girl. Bambi loves all the people she meets! She does ok with dogs and cats but it’s the people that she wants. She even will stand on her back legs and “pray” for you to love her. It’s so funny to watch her. We just love it. Bambi does have a story to tell and would like a fairytale ending. She would love to have a family to call her own again.

Bambi has environmental allergies. What she is allergic to, we do not know. What we do know is that she was surrendered when her medical care and treatment became too much for her previous family to handle. When Bambi was surrendered, she was missing quite a bit of her hair over her entire body. She had no hair on her chest or belly. The hair on her back and legs was exceptionally thin. Because she was scratching so much, she ended up with a fungal infection throughout her body and her ears. The smell of yeast radiated from this baby.  You would think with all that going on, and as uncomfortable as she had to be, Bambi would be miserable. But guess what?! She wasn’t! She is the happiest dog.

After several months of treatment, Bambi has made a wonderful recovery. Her hair is growing in and her ears look amazing. She has no signs of infection and her skin is a pretty pink color, no more bright red inflammation going on. We hope the hair on her belly will return at some point, but we are unsure since the allergies went untreated for so long.

Bambi truly loves her people. Anywhere you go, she would like to be. If you are on the couch, expect Bambi to be in your lap, if you are in bed, so is Bambi. If you are taking a walk, you should probably take Bambi as well. Bambi is a great little lady. She is perfectly housebroken and excellent on a leash or in the car. She is not a big barker either so she would be ok in an apartment setting. Bambi does live with other dogs but prefers to be the only dog. She is fine with older calmer dogs but is not a fan of the crazy puppies. She has also lived with kids from ages 4-11 and cats. So we feel she will fit into almost any home. Please remember that environmental allergies never go away so continued preventative care will be needed throughout the year, especially in the warmer weather. This may include medicated baths, and possible injections to relieve the itchy. She is currently not on any medication. If you think Bambi is the right girl for you, make sure you apply today.
