Introducing the handsome man Ollie!! Ollie has a story to tell like most seniors do. Ollie is a 10 year old pug/chihuahua mix, more commonly known as a chug. Ollie has now found his way into his third rescue with the hopes of finding him his forever retirement home. Ollie was originally turned over to a shelter in Florida by his previous family, back in December. After a couple months there, he was transferred to a rescue in Texas. With no luck in finding a home in Texas, the rescue reached out to us. As some of you may know, when there is a senior dog in need, we have a hard time saying no. So here he is now, our little spunky Ollie, is looking for a retirement home in WNY.

Once he arrived, we noticed that Ollie had a cough going on. Looking over his paperwork, we noticed this cough has been ongoing since December, at least. It was noted on the paperwork that he was coughing the day he was surrendered. In Texas, the cough was still there. X-rays were done on his heart and no major issues were noted. We took him to our vet, who examined him and did some bloodwork. It was discovered that the poor guy has CHF. He is on a combination of Enalapril and Lasix, twice a day with his meals. Within a 2 days of starting his medication, the coughing decreased significantly. Now that Ollie has been on medication for a few weeks, we are happy to say that Ollie has a much better quality of life. He coughs briefly first thing in the morning, as his meds wear off, but other than that the coughing is minimal. The combination of medication costs less than $20 a month to keep him happy and healthy,

He has more energy as well. He is walking around more and seems happier in general. He loves to be outside and smell all the smells in the grass. His foster mom gets such a kick out of him when Ollie starts rolling around in the grass. When she comes home from work, Ollie greets her immediately and gets excited to see her. He even pokes her with his little nose and that fabulous underbite. His smile is adorable. He will even play a little with his foster mom now too. He loves to playfully bite at your hands, then he turns to give you a quick little kiss. Ollie is very food motivated too. When it is time to eat, the old man will run you down to get to his bowl. Ollie will jump and circle to make sure you don't forget about him. Like anyone could ever forget a guy like him?

Being a senior, Ollie spends much of his time sleeping the day away in his favorite dog bed. Ollie will go potty outside, but he will not tell you that he has to go. It will be up to you to take him out. Usually, you can tell when he has to go, which is after a good sleep and a meal. Ollie does have some issues with his eye sight. He's not blind, but going up and down stairs makes him nervous. His depth perception isn't as good as it used to be. No worries, though, he will let you carry him with no problem. We know that finding Ollie a home may be a challenge but we know there is someone out there that will provide him with the perfect home for his end of life care. If you think your home is just right for Ollie, make sure to apply today. Will you be the final chapter in his story?

Ollie is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  He has also had extensive bloodwork done.  His adoption fee is $200
