Learn more about the Shih Tzu.

Bella and Domino are two of the sweetest seniors you could possibly meet. They came to us after their previous owners lifestyle changed. Their owners started traveling for work and could no longer care for them. We know that based on their age, and the fact that they are bonded, it may be harder to find them a home together, but we know that there is a home out there for them. After all, we do have the best adopters in WNY.

Bella is a cream color Shihtzu. She does have some old age issues going on, such as cataracts and arthritis, but otherwise, she is a perfect little girl. She is demanding of your attention and will bark at you if you are not paying attention to her. She wants to be in the same room with when you are home. Ideally, she would like to be on the couch right next to you, or on your lap like a blanket. In fact, if you are on the couch, and she’s not, Bella will paw at you until you pick her up. Due to the cataracts if you move quickly toward a her face, Bella will flinch but one she knows you are loving on her and petting her, Bella moves in closer for more. She adores when you pet her ears, oh and the butt scratches, she can’t get enough of them. Those butt rubs make her shake her whole body. Bella is housebroken and is perfectly content to lay in a dog bed in the kitchen with her brother while you are at work all day.

Then there is the handsome Domino. He just has the sweetest face. You can’t help but love him. Domino is very much like Bella. He wants to be in your lap and snuggled as close to you as possible. Again, being 14, he does have some old man lumps and bumps, along with arthritis. He is a little bit bigger than Bella weighing in at 15 pounds. As long as he has a spot on the couch, Domino is happy as can be. A few years ago, Domino was diagnosed with a heart murmur. Due to the fact that he is asymptomatic, he is not on medication. He too is housebroken and in fact has mastered the use of the doggy door in his foster home.

Both senior babies get along well with other dogs of all ages and sizes, although they prefer to keep the company of older calmer dogs. They deal with the puppy in their foster home, but sometimes his energy is too much for them, so they run to you for protection. They have not been exposed to cats in their foster, but we do not think cats will be an issue. Due to the fact that Bella can be a recreational barker, they may not be suited for apartment life. Both dogs are crate trained. If crated make sure the crate is big enough for both of them to be together. Really though, a nice comfy bed on the floor in the kitchen makes them happy. A home with older children, who can respect their age and don’t have fast sudden movements, would be best for them. Although they would be tolerant of small children when they come to visit. The constant high energy may be too much for these seniors. If you think you can give these two a perfect retirement home, make sure you apply today.

Bella and Domino are both spayed/neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  Their adoption fee is $200 for both and they will be adopted together.  We will not separate them.
