Naya is ready to find her new home! She is a 1 year old maltese poodle mix that originally came from Texas.  Naya is a tiny girl, just about 7 pounds!

Naya is a cuddly little girl with a sassy attitude mixed in.  Once she trusts you, she is very loving and affectionate but it does take her a little bit to get used to new people.  Naya is happy to be hanging out on the couch with her foster mom but is just as happy curled up in a little bed during the day.  She always seems to find the beds in the corners.  She does fine with other dogs but can get bossy - there is that sass coming through!  Naya would be fine with another dog or as an only dog.  She is not much of a player with other dogs but will pick up a toy to play by herself.  She really loves the chewies in her foster home!  She loves to cuddle up to her foster mom at night and will try her best to sleep on her head or neck.  When it's time to get up and go potty, she sits on her foster mom and stares at her with laser beam focus.  Naya is still working on her housetraining skills and it is a work in progress.  You have to watch her outside to make sure she goes.  She hasn't quite gotten it down yet but we are hoping that with better weather coming and a family that can focus all their attention on her, she will pick it up in no time.  She has a fully fenced yard in her foster home and likes to explore it, her nose to the ground trying to figure out all the smells!  She is crate trained with a little fussing initially - she would rather be gated rather than crated.  She has started to work on her leash skills too.  As we said, she can be nervous around new people - she does not want to be chased to be picked up.  Kids should at least be 12+  or so. She needs someone to have patience, that is willing to give her some time to get used to her new surroundings.  

At one point, Naya was very matted.  She has been groomed a couple of times but is still not used to it.  She will need to be groomed regularly.  

Naya is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  She has also been professionally groomed.  Her adoption fee is $500 to help with medical and hospice dogs in our rescue.
