Schnauzer / Mixed (long coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Young : : Small
Learn more about the Schnauzer. Happy Jack Black is looking for his forever home. Jack traveled from Texas with the hopes of finding a loving, caring home. One that will continue to help him heal. See our boy Jack first arrived with chemical burns along his back. His skin has completely healed and he wants someone to continue to heal his heart.
Jack is a very sweet and fun-loving guy. He’s only about 18-24 months old and has all the energy that goes along with his age. Jack is very confident in his home but is nervous in new situations. It takes him a minute to warm up to strangers, especially men. It is clear he is nervous when introduced to a new man. He will bark, wag his tail, and back up. Jack will stretch out to smell them. After about 30 minutes, Jack relaxes. Once he knows that he is safe, Jack is your buddy for life. No matter where you go Jack is right behind you. He will even poke you with his nose to let you know he’s there as you are walking. Jack does have a fenced yard in his foster home, but he is great on a leash. Jack is also crate trained. Jack will bark for a little bit when first in the crate but he settles down. He does have a big bark, so an apartment setting is not ideal for him. Jack is working hard on his house training. He will bark at the door when he wants to go out. If you ignore him though, he will have an accident.
Jack Black loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home. They are helping him build his confidence. He enjoys running and wrestling with them. He does take social cues from the others and will back off if they get annoyed with him. He would benefit from having a four-legged friend in his forever home to continue making Jack comfortable. Jack has been around kids as young as 7. He really likes them. He’s not mouthy, like many dogs his age can be. In fact, Jack is very gentle. After a couple of hours of play, and a nice walk, Jack will jump up on the couch, rest his head on your lap while you watch TV. At night, Jack is the first one in bed. This way he gets the best spot next to his foster mom. He prefers to sleep right next to his person, with his head on your chest all night. There are no cats in Jack's foster home, so we are unsure of how he will act around them. Overall Jack is a well-balanced boy. If you think he may be a match for you and your family. Make sure you apply today. Jack is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg.. for heartworm. His adoption fee is $450
