Schnauzer / Mixed (long coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Young
Learn more about the Schnauzer. Our man Rascal is looking for his forever home. Will that be with you? Rascal is another dog that ended up with our rescue partners in Texas. One look at his face and we knew this fella needed our help. I mean it’s he just so handsome? Rascal is an 18 month old schnauzer mix. What exactly he is mixed with we do not know. But he’s definitely a lover.
We don't know much about Rascal past, but we know his future is bright. He is a playful guy who absolutely loves his people. Rascal is a bit shy at first, and will cower in a corner, but it doesn’t take long to coax him. He truly enjoys being the center of his foster family’s world. He follows them all around the house. If they are watching TV Rascal will lay on the back of the couch, with his head resting on his moms shoulder. Being a young man, Rascal can be a little mouthy at times when he plays, but a simple “no bite” gets him to stop. Its never to be mean, he just wants you to play with him. Rascal does know basic commands such as sit, and is perfectly crate trained, as well as leash trained. Someone definitely spent some time working with him. Rascal loves to run and play in his current backyard. He will chase the leaves, then lay in the grass, while you go about your business gardening outside. He picks up on the routine very quickly and knows where to go out to go potty. Rascal did have accidents when he first arrived in rescue, typical male marking, but after the first day, that stopped. We do expect accidents in a new home as well, but with consistency and routine, we don’t expect it will last long. Rascal does get along well with his foster siblings, but he does try to be the dominant dog at first. Once he knows his place in the pack, Rascal will do well with another dog. Again, it’s all about correction and leadership. Rascal is excellent in the car and not a big barker at all. He will alert you when someone is at the door but he can sit in the window all day, watching the people walk by, without a word to say. Rascal seems to be insecure initially. With the right family, we think Rascal will continue to bloom into an amazing companion. If you think you may be the right fit for Rascal, make sure you apply today! Rascal is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. He has also been professionally groomed! His adoption fee is $400
