Learn more about the Schnauzer. Our gorgeous girl Gracey is ready for her forever home. Like many of our dogs, Gracey came from Texas in order to find her forever home. We don’t know much about her background but we do know that it was not pleasant. Gracey arrived to our Texas partners with her collar embedded in her neck. She needed surgery in order to remove it. Despite her sad past, we know Gracey’s future is bright, since we all know Pixie adopters are the best!
Based on Gracey’s attitude, you would never know that this little low rider had been hurt. She has the cutest stumpy little legs. Gracey loves everyone she meets. She is a happy go lucky girl who bonds quickly to her person. There is never a space between Gracey and her foster family. Gracey can’t stand to be away from her family when they are home. If they are watching TV, Gracey is on the couch with her head resting on their lap. If her foster mama gets up, Gracey is up and at her heels, even poking her as they walk. Gracey definitely tends to get underfoot. At night, Gracey is often found laying with her head across her foster mamas neck! Gracey is a dog that knows she has been saved and is beyond grateful for that. Gracey is smart as can be. She is excellent on a leash, and does not pull at all. Since being in rescue, Gracey has learned a few commands such and sit, off, and come. Gracey is still working on her house training. She knows what to do when outside but it will be up to her forever family to take her out regularly. Speaking of outside, Gracey loves to run and play outside. She often gets the case of the zoomies and runs full speed through her current yard. Squeaky toys and fuzzy balls are her favorite toys. She will play with them by herself but is also a pro at “go get it”. Gracey is very gentle at taking treats and does not seem to have an aggressive bone in her body. She gets along very well with other dogs and has been around kids as young as 8. Gracey does like to jump on her favorite people so a home with toddlers may not be the best fit for her. She would most likely jump on them and knock them down. Gracey is crate trained and will cry for a few minutes when first put in the crate but settles down while her family is at work. Gracey is a little gem who will be a great addition for most homes. She does need some help to become the best companion she possibly can. Gracey is eager to please her family, and thrives on praise. This helps to make her a fast learner. If you think you can continue to help her overcome her past, make sure you apply today! Gracey is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $400
