Chihuahua (short coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Adult : : Small
Learn more about the Chihuahua. Bailey is looking for his forever home. We have to admit this little guy is rather becoming. He looks quite dapper in his bow tie. Like many of our dogs. Bailey found himself in a shelter in Texas. At 8 years old the likelihood of him being adopted was slim. So here he is, in WNY, hoping to find his forever family.
Bailey does not ask for much. All he really wants is a lap to call his own, and a blanket to keep him warm. Bailey is a wonderful guy. In true chihuahua fashion, he is completely in love with his family. It does take him a day or so to bond, but once he does, Bailey is a “velcro” dog. He is never far from his foster mom. He is constantly following her all around the house. At night he curls up in a ball, right under the covers, and is pressed against her all night. There is no need to make over night potty trips with this fella. Bailey does pretty well when it comes to his house training. Accidents happened when he first arrived, as expected, but now that he knows the routine those have stopped.
Bailey could stand to lose a couple pounds, but that shouldn’t be too hard since he loves to go for walks. He has even lost a little weight in his foster home and enjoys playing with toys. Bailey enjoys the company of people, men and women. He has not been around children but we feel that he would be ok with children 10 and over. Being a little older of a gent, the sudden movements of small children may make him nervous. Especially since, he runs and hides when new people try to pick him up. Again once he’s used to you, Bailey has no problem being handled. In fact he likes it when he is held like a baby and given belly rubs. He will quickly fall asleep in your arms as you rock him. Bailey does live with other dogs and is ok with them and will play. Again though, true to his breed, Bailey can get an attitude when he’s sitting on your lap and another dog approaches. He will growl at them. Bailey does not want to share his persons lap with another dog. He prefers to be the center of attention. Since Bailey is not currently fostered with cats, we are unsure how he will react with them. Bailey is crate trained but does not often use it. He has been left alone for 6 hours with no accidents.
Bailey is a very handsome, loving stout guy. If you think you can provide him with the perfect forever home, make sure you apply today. He promises to give you plenty of love in return. Bailey is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. His adoption fee is $350
