Learn more about the French Bulldog.

This handsome dog is Goober!  He is mix of French Bulldog and American Staffordshire we believe.  He is about 3 years old and 45 pounds.  Goober was set to be euthanized in Texas because he is a special needs dog.  No way!  We saw the potential this dog had and are we ever glad we got him to safety!

Goober is definitely special!  He has been diagnosed with cerebellar ataxia by our vet.  So in a nutshell,  Goober walks like he's drunk!  He tends to walk in circles, especially when he is in the yard and has balance issues.  He will fall over on occasion too.  There isn't anything we can do to help Goober, he is who he is and that's ok.  But on the UP side - Goober is JOYOUS! He is so happy, nothing ever brings this boy down.  He loves loves loves people and everyone he meets is his new best friend.  Rub his belly and he is yours.  Goober would be fine with kids as long as they are sturdy and can handle being knocked into accidently.  He is fine with cats.  Goober is good with dogs but the other dog must be tolerant of Goober and getting knocked into.  He will never start a fight but if he is attacked, he will defend himself.  We believe this happened to him in the past as he has some scars.  Goober is crate trained.  He is doing amazing on housetraining too - very few accidents once he got into his new routine.  He has started to bark when he wants to go outside. Please expect some adjustment time.  Goober needs access to water (it's part of his condition).  Goober cannot go downstairs on his own - a few would are fine.  He has learned to go up stairs in his foster home and that helps out a lot!  Goober LOVES toys - he will spend the day playing with a toy in the yard.  Anything that bounces is his favorite.  Goober will play with other dogs but often gets distracted and wanders away.  He walks well on a leash but he is Strong and can pull.  A fully fenced yard would be ideal (no electric or invisible fences though).  Goober will make you laugh and smile the minute you meet him!

Goober is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated, tested neg. for heartworm.  He has also been seen by our vet for a complete physical.  His adoption fee is $400
