Learn more about the Chihuahua. Just like her name, Petunia is the prettiest flower just starting to bloom! She is a terrier mix, maybe with some chihuahua or min pin. She is about 3 years old and 14 pounds. Petunia came to us all the way from Texas where she was sprung out of a shelter. She was heartworm positive and that was surely a death sentence if our rescue friends did not save her! She successfully completed heartworm treatment and is ready to make her new life in Buffalo!
Petunia is a little snuggle bug who wants nothing more to be with her foster family. Whether it's on the couch or carefully watching you make dinner, she is your little shadow! How can you resist those eyes? Although she can be shy initially, she quickly warms up to people and it feels like she has known you forever! She is good with other dogs. Kids over the age of 8 would be preferred. Petunia is crate trained and appears to be housetrained. Please expect some adjustment time as she learns her new home and routine. She is still working on her leash skills. Petunia loves to play with toys. She enjoys her fully fenced yard - especially when she can soak up the last of the summer sun! She is going to make someone very happy!
Petunia is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated. Petunia will need to remain on monthly heartworm preventative for the rest of her life. This ranges from $45-$80 a year depending on brand. heartworm can only be transmitted via mosquito bites. It is perfectly safe for other dogs in the home to have a previously HW+ animal present. Petunia's adoption fee is $400 - please apply on our website if you are interested in making her part of your family!
