Learn more about the Pekingese.

Leon is looking for his forever home.  He is a 9 year old Pekingese that was a previous pixie who was recently returned.  Leon loved his mama very much, but did not love the cats, or smaller child in the home.  His mama tried to work with him, for several years, but Leon was having none of it.  Leon never adjusted, and it was in his best interest to be returned.

For these reasons, Leon needs an adult only home (children 15+) and where he can be the king he was meant to be.  Currently, Leon does live with other dogs, and he tolerates them, but it is clear he would prefer to be the only pet in his home. Leon's idea of a good time consists of snuggling on the couch, giving lots of kisses, long car rides, naps on his favorite blanket, and short walks.  After all, he does have little legs that can only take him so far.  Leon loves exploring his backyard.  He is often found laying in the shade of the trees, with the wind blowing through his fur, or sunning himself on the back deck. Leon isn't all relaxation though, he is a pro at tug-o-war.  Those rope toys are so much fun! While in the yard, Leon has been known to let you know what is going on, and when he is concerned about something.  True to the breed, he will alert you of new sounds and people right away.  Apartment life is not for him. Leon has a mind of his own.  At times he can be very stubborn. If he is not in the mood to do something, he won't!  Just let him be and eventually he will do it in his own time.

Leon is crate trained.  So, if you have small children who occasionally visit, he is content to stay in his crate.  He also appears to be house broken, although accidents may happen initially.  Leon would be a perfect companion for someone who has a nice quiet home, for someone who is looking for a buddy to travel and hang around with, or for someone who works from home and needs a friend to keep their feet warm. In true Pekingese fashion, he is devoted to his loved ones and will be loyal as can be. If you think he may be a match for you, please make sure you apply today.

Leon is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  His adoption fee is $300
