Learn more about the Chihuahua.

Miss Sissy came to us from a local shelter when her owner was unable to care for her.  Sissy is Western New York born & bred – from our blizzards in the winter to the sunshine of Canalside in the summer. She has been there, done that – and loves every minute of it!

Sissy is approximately 3 years old  and is a chihuahua mix.  Her fur is very short & sleek. Coffee Brown?  Midnight Black?  You decide – the color of her fur changes in the light.  The only thing that is constant is the gorgeous bronze overtones woven into her dark hair.  She has white socks on all 4 feet and a white shirtfront.  She is always dressed in formal attire!

Sissy checks all the boxes people seek in a dog:  She comes when she is called, she sits and stays (most times, occasionally her wiggle-butt gets the better of her!) and she can catch a treat in her mouth when you toss it to her.  Sissy is very affectionate and is the living, breathing definition of a “velcro dog”.  You sit – she sits on your lap.  You stand – she is up and ready to go wherever you are going.  You walk – she is in front of you looking over her shoulder to anticipate your next move or behind you trying to keep pace.  You sleep – she is right beside you, most likely working to burrow under the blankets.  You can forget about going to the bathroom alone – Sissy wants to be in there supervising or at least outside the door whining & waiting for you to come back out safely.  She attaches to her people – and truly, that level of love and companionship is what having a dog is all about, right?

Sissy is a Queen on her leash & harness.  She struts proudly along – head up, tail up, moving forward with direction and purpose…she may be a little too focused sometimes- she walks like she is late for a job interview.  Put your sneakers on before you try to walk this girlie!  She does go potty outside but also does well using the potty pads in the house.  She is still putting it all together that “outside” is more than play time and runway walking in her harness like a super model.

Sissy has a big bark that comes out of that little body and she is vocal about protecting her people and their property.  Great to deter unwanted visitors…not so great for apartment living.  Sissy will need to be in a house for her forever home.  It may take Sissy a few minutes (and a few barks) to get used to new people, but once she is confident that person is safe, she makes everyone fall in love with her.

Sissy loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home.  She loves the soft squeaky toys and a cuddle-worthy blanket to wrap herself up in.  She has not been tested with cats or small children.

Nothing succeeds like excess – and this is Sissy to her very core.  She is big love.  She is coming out of her skin with excitement to see you when you come home from work.  She is ready to cuddle at the drop of a hat. She is there to follow you anywhere and everywhere. She is waiting on you 24/7.  If it is within her power to do it, Sissy is right there trying to please her people.  She is a fur-covered love bubble just looking to bring boundless joy into her forever home.

Sissy is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, and tested neg. for heartworm.  Her adoption fee is $350
