Piper and Peter are best friends.  The two of them traveled from Texas in search of their forever homes. Where you find one, you know the other is right there as well.  Although they would like to stay together, we know that is not always possible. Piper is a 3-year-old red chihuahua mix.  She has short legs and more of a sturdy terrier build.  

Piper can be a little apprehensive of new people. She needs more time to become everyone's friend.  But once she warms up, there is no denying the love this little lady has.  She loves to give tons of kisses and in exchange expects lots of belly rubs from her favorite humans.  Piper is very quiet and rarely barks; a watchdog, she is not.  Piper is housebroken and crate trained. She likes to army crawl on the grass and lounge in the sun. At night Piper will curl into a ball in her doggy bed with her pal Peter, and sleep all night. She sleeps so soundly that many mornings, Piper has to be woken up to go outside. She is enjoying her life of peace and luxury.  

Piper has been around children as young as 10.  Although she will jump in their lap and give kisses, she is not comfortable with them picking her up and carrying her right away. Piper does do well with the other dogs in her foster home, but she does not want to share her doggy bed with any other dog beside Peter. There are no cats in Piper's current foster home, so we are unsure how she will do with them. Piper is an excellent companion in the car.  She is content to sit in her booster seat while you chauffeur her around. Piper is not leash trained, so a fenced yard is preferred (no invisible fences).   if you think you have a nurturing home, and Piper, would complete your family,  make sure you apply today.
