Contact Parker Brown's Caretaker/Foster Directly: Foster Meet Parker Brown! Sweet Parker is a 4 year old pitbull and weighs 55 pounds. She is a beautiful brindle with a flash of white across her chest. Parker was being overlooked for adoption time after time due to her ears - which were cut off with scissors when she was a puppy! We saw past all that and knew she had to become a Pixie! PB is your typical sweet pit who wants nothing but love. PB is 4 but still has a lot of puppy in her and requires a home with a bully breed experience that can help her grow and learn how to be a polite pit. Prior to coming to rescue, we don’t think PB had much experience learning how to “dog”. Even though she’s on the shorter side, she’s a STRONG girl and is learning boundaries, but since being in her foster home, she responds really well to training! PB loves the other dog she’s living with and will follow her around and mimic what she’s doing like a little sister so she would really benefit from another dog to show her the ropes. She loves chewing on bones and throwing stuffed animals around. While she can look intimidating at first, all she really wants to do is play and love whoever/whatever she meets. She’s currently living with cats and can be a little pushy with them (she just wants them to play with her) but has been learning how to be gentle with them. She is also quite sassy! When it’s time to eat or to go outside, she gives quite the side-eye and will do the pitbull “woo” to tell you! Parker is wonderfully potty-trained as long as she’s on a stable schedule. She’s also crate trained. Sometimes at night she’ll whine a bit but will sleep the rest of the night into the morning. PB does best in her crate when left alone as well, while when left alone outside of her crate she didn’t destroy anything or have accidents, but she did whine/bark so it’s best to have a crate to stay as her safe space. As mentioned, she’s a strong girl. Prior to coming to rescue, she had little leash experience but with the correct collar and consistent training, she is becoming much more polite. She LOVES going for walks but if you’re looking for a long-distance hiking buddy, she’s not your girl. Outside of her playful times and zoomies, she’s a big couch potato. When PB came to us, she wasn’t looking her best. She’s been putting on healthy weight and after some baths and ear cleanings, she’s looking and feeling so much better! But with most pit breeds, especially ones with cropped ears, her ears and coat should be looked after often. Because of her breed and heavy-footed nature, we wouldn’t recommend her to be in an apartment. Parker tested positive for heartworm at the shelter and has completed fast kill heartworm injections. She will need to remain on monthly heartworm preventative for the rest of her life (cost approx. is $70 for the year) Parker Brown is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and treated for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $350 - please apply online if you are interested.
