Shih Tzu (long coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Adult : : Small
Learn more about the Shih Tzu. Shane Brother Shane. This handsome fellow came to us from a local shelter. His owner was forced to surrender him due to a lack of care. Shane was extremely matted and filthy. He likely had never been groomed in his life. Shane was not a good candidate for adoption and the COVID crisis was just beginning. So we brought him to Pixie Mamas to work with him. Some good stuff about Shane! He is house trained and walks on a leash well. He gets very excited when he sees his leash and thinks he is going somewhere. Shane has a fully fenced yard in his foster home and loves to utilize that. He is fine with other dogs and ok with cats. He will on occasion chase them outside but it's all fun and games. He rides well in the car. He likes toys and will play tug with his foster mom. Cow hooves are his favorite thing! Shane is his foster mom's shadow and is always nearby. He likes to be pet on his back and will rub up on your legs and feet like a cat. He is smart and listens well. Shane does have a big bark so apartments are not an option for him. Although Shane is a wonderful dog, he is not for everyone. Because he wasn't treated well, he is not receptive to being touched in a way a groomer would touch him. He will show his teeth if you touch his face with scissors or a comb. He will allow brushing of his body. His foster mom has been working with him and he is improving. It is his foster mom's opinion that he may need to be sedated before being groomed. Because of this, young kids are not going to be an option for him. Shane is very happy and laid back - he just needs the right person to understand him. Shane is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. His adoption fee is $350
