Twinkie is an approximate 1-2 year old Dachshund mix.  She was an owner surrender due to having too many dogs in the home.  Twinkie ended up being pregnant and having a litter of four beautiful puppies!  She was a wonderful mother and is now looking for a home of her very own! 

Twinkie LOVES to run and play.  She loves dogs her own size but becomes very fearful when she sees larger dogs.  Therefore a home with a large breed dog will not be considered.  Twinkie's favorite thing is to be loved!  She will sit on your lap for hours and soak up any attention you can give her.  We joke and say there is not enough love in the world for Twinkie - it’s so true!  You can tell she was definitely loved in her previous home but perhaps did not get enough attention due to the number of dogs.  She craves it more than anything! 

Twinkie is a shy girl and takes a few minutes to warm up to people- typical of the breed.  Once a guest sits down on the couch and she no longer feels threatened she will be their best friend. She is a great watchdog and is not afraid to let you know someone is in the neighborhood so apartments  may not be the best fit.  She runs so fast and will zip through your yard like lightning - she would love a fenced-in yard of her own to run and play in.  No invisible fences please.  She has not had much leash training as she was nursing puppies for most of her stay in foster care so she will need much work in that area.  She is nervous in the car but has gotten better with each trip. 

Twinkie is totally crate trained.  She is also fine behind a gate.  She refuses to use pee pads even when she was with her litter she wanted to go outside to use the bathroom.  She does have some submissive peeing.  Sometimes she dribbles when you go to pick her up or if she thinks she is in trouble. Otherwise, she has not had any accidents in the foster home but she works from home and has the ability to let her out frequently.  Please expect accidents in a new home with a new routine. 

Twinkie is an adorable girl with the cutest overbite. She is full of love to give the right family. She has been around an 8 year old child who is quiet and dog savvy.  Twinkie absolutely loves her but we would not recommend super young kids as she’s still a shy nervous girl.  Small to medium playful dogs are perfect and a fenced in yard is definitely preferred.  If you think you have the perfect home for Twinkie please apply!  

Twinkie is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, tested neg. for heartworm and flea/worm treated.  Her adoption fee is $350
