Learn more about the Great Pyrenees.
Meet Norm, aka Norman, aka Stormin’ Norman! Norm is a Great Pyrenees mix, about 5 months old, and already about 30 pounds!
Norm and his brother Leo came to us all the way from Texas to find their forever homes. Pyrenees mixes, these dogs require someone with experience in larger breeds, preferably with livestock guardian dogs. LGDs tend to be independent thinkers with a stubborn streak. They are also very sensitive so they need gentle but consistent training. Electric fences won’t hold them if they are on a mission, so a fence is a must.
Norm is very curious and will go to any extent to satisfy that curiosity. He has easily scaled a 4 foot gate, nearly jumped over the railings on the deck and has found himself more than once ON the kitchen table. Needless to say, his inquisitive nature can get him into sticky situations! Like his brother, he has learned some commands such as sit and responds to consistency and gentle but firm training. He doesn’t mind his crate and also enjoys walks but gets distracted easily on walks.
Because of his curiosity and antics, Norm requires a 6 foot fence. He likes the companionship of other dogs so would best fit in a home with at least one other dog.
Norm will finish his vetting on September 5th and will be available shortly after that but we are currently accepting applications for him. He will be neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated upon adoption. His adoption fee is $350
