Learn more about the Shih Tzu.

This handsome shih tzu came in as a breeder surrender.  He was most likely used as a stud dog.  He was a matted mess and smelled so strongly of urine.  He has since been cleaned up, neutered and is ready to find his forever home.

Rugby loves people and is very affectionate.  He gets along with other dogs but tries to be the dominant one.  We are working on that with him and are hoping the neutering will help.  He is crate trained but not housebroken.  He marks in the home so he will need some patience and structure to help him understand- a belly band may help with this until he “gets it”.  He is okay with cats but he can be a barker so please take that into consideration before you apply.  He has had minimal leash training but Is a very smart and confident dog so he should pick that up quickly.  The groomer said he was excellent for them and he has done well with any care provided in the foster home. Rugby is a gentle, loving dog who just needs time to learn how to live as a family pet.  If you have the right home, love and patience Rugby needs please apply.

Rugby is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated, tested neg. for heartworm and has been groomed.  His adoption fee is $400
