English Bulldog (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Young : : Medium
Fun, Fantastic Felicity! This little EDB came to us from a horrible puppymill with mange and little did we know at the time, but an elongated palate that needed surgery! Well the dirty disgusting millers were not going to help her so we did! Felicity is about 1 year old and weighs a cheerful 32 pounds! Felicity was a shell of a dog when she came to us. She barely walked, would only army crawl and everything scared her. We knew we were in for the long haul with her anyway so we set our sights on helping become the fun bully she was meant to be! And boy has she! Felicity is now a much more confident dog - yes new things and sounds will take some time but she is no longer cowering at them. She is doing well on her housetraining but there WILL be accidents so time and patience and love is needed. Felicity loves to be outside so a fenced yard will be required as she is not able to potty on the leash. NO electric/invisible fences. Another dog is a must - she learns from them and she needs the companionship. We have to be careful on the size of the other dog and Felicity likes to play and per our vet, larger very energetic dogs would not be good. Older Kids are fine as long as they don't mind getting knocked down every once in awhile. She can be rough with the jumping and attention seeking and that can cause kids to be afraid. Bulldogs often make sounds that can be misinterpretated. Cats are no issue. Felicity loves people now but can be shy initially. But once she warms up, watch out world! She is great lover of attention, cuddles and playtime with people and dogs. She appears gentle and shy initially but has a rambunctious spirit that will soon shine through. Felicity's new family should have EBD experience - bulldogs are just not plug in dogs and ebds in rescue are there for a reason, especially medical. They also understand that there is a possibility of future issues (ie respiratory distress, pneumonia, and other common breed medical problems). Please keep this in mind as vet costs are higher then most other breeds and they will need specialized care. Felicity needs to remain on a quality grain free diet as EBDs often develop allergies, even if she has none now the likelyhood of her developing them is very high. Air conditioning in the warmer months is a must and will be verified. We would like Felicity to continue her future care with her current vet as they have seen her through the ups and downs of her health and know her history well. Felicity is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, tested neg for heartworm. She has recovered from Demodex mange and has also had elongated soft palate surgery to improve her breathing and swallowing. She is recovered and feels like a brand new dog! Her adoption fee is $600 - please apply on our website if you think you have a home to match Felicity's needs! If you have never owned a bulldog, do your research ahead of time! They are high medical needs breed and often require an expensive, grain free diet. And remember, when you see the puppies at the pet store that their parents are suffering in a hell hole! Don't support them by buying a dog there - help us put them out of business and end so much suffering!
