Learn more about the Chihuahua.

Sweet little Maxine!  This little girl came to us from Texas, just another throw away dog there that would never have a chance at a home.  Maxine is about 4 years old and 8 pounds - a perfect little love!

Maxine is a gentle little dog.  She is sweet and well behaved.  She likes other little dogs (she wants to cuddle!) and has no issues with cats.  Kids are fine if they are respectful to her small size.  Maxine is doing well on her housetraining, but she is a chihuahua lol.  Please expect accidents as she adjusts to a new home and routine.  Maxine is leash and crate trained.

Maxine is now spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated.  During her vetting, it was discovered that she was heartworm positive.  She has successfully completed treatment recently.  Maxine will need to remain on monthly heartworm preventitive for the rest of life so please take that into consideration if you are interested in adopting Maxine!

Heartworm facts:

Dogs that have been treated for heartworm can live a full and normal life.

Heartworm is not contagious to other animals or people in the home.

Dogs that have been treated for heartworm should be tested again at 6 months and then yearly after that.

They must remain on a monthly preventative for the remainder of their lives.  The heartworm treatment is very hard on a dogs body and unfortunately they cannot go through the treatment a second time.
