Another Texan looking for love!  This is Duke.  He is a standard Dachshund mix found as a stray in Texas.  We were asked if we could help and of course we said yes!  

Duke is a very loving and loyal dog to his person.  We don’t know where Duke came from or what his previous life was like but he appears to be very insecure and uncomfortable with change.  He has been very well behaved inside the foster home but when he is taken to events it proves to be to stressful for Duke and he lashes out at people- same at the vet and the groomer.  For that reason we ask that there be no small kids in the home because although he seems to really love kids he has nipped at events and we don’t want to take any chances.  Duke will thrive in a quiet home with a regular routine and very little traffic (company).  Although Duke loves car rides and walks in the park he has no ambition to be a world traveler so someone who is mostly home will be a great match for this boy.  He isn’t going to want to go to family picnics or camping or vacations – he is happy as can be laying on the couch watching TV, wrestling with the other dogs or playing ball in the yard with his family.  He has gotten along with most every friendly dog he has met but a meet and greet with your dog will be required before adoption.  He has done well with housebreaking in his foster home but we always say to expect accidents as he gets used to his new home.  He has done very well left out of the crate but is also crate trained after some initial crying he settles down.  He sleeps in bed with his foster and he is the absolute best cuddler you’d ever find (will be very nice on those cold winter nights)  Duke does bark when left alone so an apartment would not be a good fit for him. 

Duke is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated, tested neg for heartworm.  His adoption fee is $350.  If you think you can provide Duke with some love and stability please apply.
