Contact Zola's Caretaker/Foster Directly: Foster Say hello to Zola! She is a beautiful, sweet, lovable 1 year old English Bulldog. She is about 40ish pounds. Zola was saved from a life of breeding due to her special needs. So let's talk about all the good stuff first! Zola is incredibly sweet! She loves attention and loves to get loved on by her foster mom! She has learned to walk nicely on a leash and is crate trained. She is good with other dogs - especially other bulldogs! She does not have any issues with cats. She loves to play! Since the first part of her life was spent caged and pretty alone, we love to see her play with toys, people and other dogs! She is finally able to be a dog!! Zola loves to be outside and could lay outside as much as possible. Except when it gets too hot - then she needs to come inside. She has learned basic commands and is so smart and eager to learn! She has the cutest face in the world and I challenge anyone to say different lol. So now let's talk about the special needs. Zola has Spina Bifida. Spina Bifida is a birth defect involving the abnormal development of the dog's vertebrae (spine). Her mobility is fine - in fact practically perfect! Her symptoms are fecal and urinary incontinence. She will need to where a diaper when not outside. There is no cure and it is something she will have for the rest of her life. So here is the extra commitment she will need from you - a grain free diet to keep her poop formed, diapers, time outside so her bottom can 'air out' and a kind, patient understanding. it is about timing and schedule - her foster mom has never dealt with this and once she figured out that Zola needed to be on a routine, it all came together! If you can give her that - she will give you all the unconditional love you will ever need! Yes she is special needs and not for everyone - but there is a home and family out there for Zola. She did not deserve to be euthanized because of her birth defect and we promised that we would take care of her. If you think you could be her forever home, please fill out an application and her foster mom will be in touch. Zola is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, heartworm neg, flea/worm treated. Her adoption fee is $300 - please apply online if you are interested!
