Learn more about the Rat Terrier. Sparky is a young Rat Terrier mix - maybe with Chihuahua. He is about 1.5 to 2 years old. Sparky was left at a local shelter and was very very scared. The shelter staff kept him as long as they possibly could and tried to find him a home but his time ran out. Rescue was needed or he would be euthanized. We took Sparky in with hopes of having better luck in getting this little guy into a home! Sparky was nervous and scared when he came to his foster home. We gave him as much time as needed for him to feel comfortable and trust us. Being bounced around and left in a kennel all day is not fun and he had no idea what to expect here. But it did not take him long to figure out we were OK. Now Sparky is part of the pack! He is energetic and lively - typical rat terrier. He is affectionate too and loves to be pet and on your lap! He is a big kisser! Rat Terriers are loving, loyal dogs and he is just a great little dog now. Sparky is good on the leash and crate trained. He seems to be housetrained here too but we always say expect accidents with any new dog! Sparky is possessive over chewies - not with humans just other dogs. He will bark at them if they get close. He likes to collect things and keep them in his crate! Sparky likes toys and a good game of tug o war! He loves to run in the yard too and chase some of the other dogs here! Sparky is not a fan of cats - he will bark at them. He is ok with kids but should be monitored until he is comfortable. Sparky is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped and de-wormed. His adoption fee is $150.
