2/9 - New Pictures of Margo!  Check out the difference some good food and exercise makes!

2/2 - Margo is doing great on her diet, she is maintaining her 18 pounds right now and that is fine.  She is becoming more active and her coat is coming back beautifully.  She is playing more and more, really enjoys the squeaky toys!  Margo is housebroke and leash trained.  She is a little annoying with cats but she is being corrected - and she certainly can't catch them right now!  Margo needs a home with little stairs, she can only do a 5 right now and we do not encourage any more then that.

Are you ready for a voluptuous redhead?? Long hair, big brown eyes and shorty stubby legs - a total bombshell!   Seriously though, Margo came to Pixie Mamas dangerously overweight - this little girl was 22 lbs!   She was on a very poor diet of people food and poor quality dog food.  Her coat was in rough shape too from her diet and she had patchy hair and very dry skin.    She is on a very strict diet right now and is losing weight,  currently at 18 lbs.  She will need to remain on a diet so that she does not gain all the weight back.  Dachshunds are prone to back and hip issues so it is important for her health to remain at a decent weight to help avoid any future problems.  Margo  was unable to do any stairs or walk far when she first came to us but she can easily climb a short set of stairs now and enjoys brief romps in the yard!  She is very good on a leash and short walks will help her lose weight and maintain her health.
Margo would do best in a home where she is the only dog.  She is not horrible with other dogs, just possessive over her toys and belongings.  This may be something that she gets over since she is new to being in a home with dogs too.  She is also hungry and maybe it is just making her cranky!  Margo is learning about the crate and she is not thrilled about it.  She seems to be housebroke too and she is always at the door when I call to go outside.  Margo is very pretty and loving, she likes to be brushed and given a bath!  She is people friendly, a little nosy with cats and if food or toys are not involved, good with other dogs.
