Learn more about the Australian Shepherd. Learn more about the Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie. Introducing Tippy, or Tippy Toe as her foster family likes to call her. When she walks around you can barely hear her coming. When she runs or walks, Tippy prances around like the beauty queen she is. Tippy recently came to us as a breeder release. She was supposedly the “house dog” that the breeder no longer wanted. Tippy is a 13-pound mini Australian Shepard/mini sheltie mix.
Once she gets to know you, Tippy is a very sweet and loving girl. She is very timid and apprehensive when she meets new people. She needs time to adjust to a new situation when placed in her forever home. Tippy would do best in a quieter home with children over the age of 13 who know to give her space. When people come to visit, Tippy will stand back and watch them initially. She will approach them when she is ready. Tippy is not aggressive; she will just avoid situations that make her uncomfortable.
Once Tippy is adjusted, she has so much love to give her person. She bonds to that person and they are her whole world. When you come home from work, you will be greeted with high jumps, tail wags, and screams of joy. One of the best ways to bond with Tippy, is through walks. If you are looking for a walking buddy, look no further, Tippy is your gal. She is always ready to go, and walks amazingly well on a leash. It’s fun to watch her on a walk because once she sees a squirrel, Tippy becomes the hunter, she slows right down, hunches down, and creeps up on them before lunging at them. But if the squirrel goes to the opposite side of the tree, Tippy has no idea where it disappeared.
Tippy is a perfect lady. She is completely house broken and crate trained. Although there is no need to crate her. She does get along with other dogs, but prefers dogs that will be slow on the approach when they meet her. That first day, Tippy will be unsure of herself and will snap at a dog that is all up in her face. Again, that stops after the first day. Tippy is a girl who has trust issues; once she lets you in, Tips is your best friend. She is full of kisses and wants to be wherever you are. Tippy travels well in a car and does not make a sound. Really the only time Tippy barks is when she is excited. Watching Tippy in the yard, and seeing how smart she is, it seems Tippy would enjoy doing agility to help boost her confidence.
If you think you have the right home to give Tippy the time and patience to warm up, make sure you apply today. Tippy is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $450
