Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (medium coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Young : : Small
Learn more about the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The time has finally arrived! Our lovely Cavalier girls are now ready to find their forever homes. Samara is a stunning red and white (also known as Blenheim) Cavalier King Charles. She is around 1.5 years old and was previously with a local breeder. The breeder felt she was too small to be a mother, so thankfully, they entrusted her to us. How could we possibly say no to a Cavalier?!
Keep in mind, Samara is a breeder release, so the human world is new to her. She is still learning to trust us. We see so much potential in this sweetheart. Once she trusts you, life will be great for her. Samara was accustomed to living in a crate, but she is adjusting well to the pampered life of a home. She loves lounging on the sofa and sleeping in the big bed. When her foster family comes home from work, she eagerly greets them with barks, growls, and excited tail wags, as if asking, "where have you been all day?" Then she runs up the ramp back onto the couch, expecting you to come sit down next to her. Samara enjoys people's company the most when they are sitting. She will come up to you, place her paws on you, give your hand a few little kisses, and then snuggle up right against you. At bedtime, she likes to be as close to you as possible and usually sleeps on the pillow next to you. Be prepared, if you turn your head towards her, she will make sure to give you a kiss on the nose.
Samara is still working on building her confidence around people. For this reason, we think a home with another dog would be best for her - a dog that can teach her how to be a dog, a dog that Samara can follow behind and learn from. She is doing excellent on her house training. Samara will not tell you that she has to go out, but if you take her out, Samara knows exactly what to do. She has had no experience on a leash at this point. A home with a fenced-in yard would be best for her.
Samara does have a few little quirks. For instance, she can go up and down a few stairs, but she will not walk in or out of the door to go out, with you standing in the doorway. You will either need to pick her up and carry her in, or prop the door open and walk away from the door, at which point she will run in, and get right onto the couch. She likes to play outside with her four legged friends. She is not into toys too much yet, but Samara prefers to shred paper of any kind. Samara is learning about toys though. Samara does not enjoy being picked up and carried around, but she will let you of course. These are all things she just needs to get used to. Again, there is no doubt that she will get used to them in time. She just needs that constant exposure. She is almost like a 1 year old puppy, who needs to learn it all. Samara is willing to though. She wants to make her family happy.
If you think you have the time to help Samara continue to blossom, make sure you apply today. She is a cute, petite little lady who has so much to offer her family. Samara is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $550
