Learn more about the Chihuahua. Sugar Pie Honey Bunch, Sweet Sugar is all set to embark on a new journey in life! Sugar is a Chihuahua/Terrier mix, approximately 3 years old and weighs 22 pounds. Sugar and her little buddy Penny were found on the streets of Texas. Although we are not sure if Sugar is Penny's mother, they are certain that they are related due to their striking similarities. Sugar was providing care and protection to tiny Penny while they were on the streets. Fortunately, they found their way to safety and when the shelter reached out for help, of course we agreed to take both! Sugar is the sweetest dog ever! She's so quiet, gentle, and well-behaved, making her the perfect companion. When she's not playing, you can find her relaxing in her cozy bed or crate. Her favorite pastime is chewing on her chew toys, which she loves! Sugar is such a happy-go-lucky pup who loves to play, especially with her best friend Penny! She's leash and crate trained, and she appears to be house-trained too, but may need some time to adjust to new routines. Sugar is so lucky to have fully fenced yard in her foster home. She also knows to whine or go to the door when she needs to go potty, which she has been very good about in her foster home! Sugar gets along well with other dogs in her foster home. At first, she was a bit confused about the cats in her foster home, but now she's completely comfortable around them. She's been around older kids and did fantastic. Sugar is an amazing cuddler and loves nothing more than snoozing on her foster mom's bed. Sugar tested positive for Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis, but she is not showing any symptoms. It is important to note that a positive test result for Ehrlichiosis/ Anaplasmosis does not necessarily mean that your dog actually has the disease. It simply indicates that your dog has developed antibodies to the infection after being bitten by a tick carrying the disease. Sugar has been treated with doxycycline and should be tested again, but it is possible for her to remain positive for up to a year. If you have any concerns, please consult with your vet. Sugar is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $450
