Learn more about the Chihuahua. Bonita Juanita is available for adoption! Juanita is a merle Chihuahua, she is about 4 - 5 years old and weighs just over 6 pounds! Juanita or Nita as her foster mom calls her, came from a NY shelter a few hours away. She was running out of time and they were running out of options. We quickly said yes to helping her- we know little dogs do not do well in shelters sometimes and just need some time and space to decompress! So that is how little Nita became a Pixie! Nita came to us very scared but she quickly bonded with her foster mom. She isn't a velcro dog but she loves who she loves! Nita loves attention and will lay across your chest and put her head under your chin when she is feeling neglected! Her favorite place in the world is her foster mom's bed! She cannot wait to get into it and snuggle under the covers whether she is with you or by herself! She sleeps plastered to your side at night and if you move so does she. She is a heat bomb and you may not need to turn the heat up for winter with Nita in the house! Nita does very well with housetraining and uses potty pads when needed. She can walk on a leash too but she has a fully fenced yard in her foster home and that is very enjoyable for her. She loves to be outside taking in the last of the summer sun. Now we would like to say that Nita is practically perfect but well, she's not and that is why she is here looking for a new home. Nita is not a fan of other dogs especially large dogs. And she has no problem telling them so. She lives with all sizes in her foster home and she has put the fear of you know who in the larger ones! She will chase them off in a blink of an eye. She does better with the small dogs but there have still been times that she growls. So for that reason, we will place Nita as an only dog. W e believe Nita would be happiest and most comfortable as the sole dog in her new home, where she can be the princess of the house. We are unsure how Nita will interact with children as she has not been around them in her foster home. She is a chihuahua with an attitude so we are going to say older teens only at this point. If you have children visiting, keep Juanita under the covers in your bed where she can't be bothered. When walking her, avoid other dogs to prevent any negative reactions. It's important to set her up for success by not putting her in situations that may lead to failure. Juanita's home is definitely out there - is this the girl for you? Juanita is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $400
