Learn more about the Chihuahua.

Here she is! Our beautiful Coco girl. Coco is a 9 month old chihuahua terrier mix who came to us from Texas. Yep, in Texas she had no chance of being adopted. We couldn’t believe it when we heard that. We know here in WNY she will be scooped up quickly. I mean she is beautiful with an amazing personality.

Coco is the sibling of the recently posted BonBon. She is not as outgoing as he is though. Coco is a little bit more shy and reserved initially. Coco needs time to adjust to new people. It takes her time to trust and it’s on her terms. If you go too fast, Coco gets scared and will bark and possibly nip at you in fear. If you simply sit on the couch and leave her alone, Coco will be on your lap in 20 minutes or less. Once she is attached to you though and knows you are safe, Coco will never leave your side! She is all about the kisses and snuggles. She is a complete cuddle bug. She always has to be touching you or in your lap. Even now, she is curled up on my shoulder, sleeping away. She follows her foster family from room to room and is always looking for them. Coco is a total homebody. She finds comfort in being in the safe space of her house with her family. Sometimes when she’s giving you kisses Coco gets overzealous and will nip your nose. Not being mean, she just gets so excited! Coco loves to play with toys of any kind but she loves the balls the most. It’s so funny to watch her carry a ball in her tiny little mouth, but she does it. Coco brings the ball up onto the couch, drops it, leaps of the couch and repeats this over and over again until she is worn out. She is easily entertained.

Coco gets along well with other dogs, is fully crate trained, and working on her house training. She knows exactly what to do when you let her out, but it is up to you to let her out on a regular basis. Coco does not know how to let you know she has to go out yet.  No worries though, Coco will also use potty pads if needed. The only time she really uses them now is overnight. Coco is the first one in the bed in order to get the prime spot of right next to you, or on you. She will sleep all night, just make sure you let her out as soon as you wake up in the morning. Coco is working on her leash training at this time. She is catching on and has even potties on the leash.

Based on her initial behavior with people, we feel that a quieter home, with older children (13+) or an adult only home would be best for Coco. If you do have the little toddlers over, it would be best to have Coco chill in her crate until the visit is over. She is not as confident with strangers at this time. She has been through a lot in her short life and we want only the best for her. If you think you can give Coco the time to adjust to a new home and new people, make sure you apply today. In return, she will shower you with more affection than most dogs can give!

Coco is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  Her adoption fee is $450
