OMG – look at that underbite!  There are a lot of things that make Ivy special, but the underbite takes the cake!

Ivy is a 3 year old chihuahua mix.  We are not sure what she is mixed with – look at that fur, is it Pom? But that curly tail is all Pug.  She is the color of vanilla pudding and soft as a cloud.  She loves to play with other dogs and her human family.  She plays hard and she plays loud.  She has a point to prove since she is small – she always talks big.  She makes sure that everyone knows she is in the room.  When she powers down, there is no better snuggle buddy.  Draped over your shoulder or stretched out full length for belly rubs, its all good as far as Ivy is concerned.

Ivy is doing great on housebreaking.  She knows to potty outside and also uses potty pads during the day because her foster mom works.  Please know that there may be accidents in her new home as she adjusts to new rules and expectations.  She is a brilliant girl and catches on quickly.  She is also a big show-off, so she is thrilled to learn something new and become the center of attention.  She is crate trained and goes into her crate to eat her meals.  She would rather be out with her family, but will go into the crate and stay nicely without issue.

Ivy is working on her leash training.  She does well until something catches her attention – a new smell, a noise in the distance, annoying small wildlife.  She then loses focus and wants to do her own thing.  She has a solid foundation for leash walking, but her forever family will need to continue training efforts.  She can do it – but she needs to think the leash walk is HER idea.  You will see a little bit of a spoiled brat, prima donna showing its face when she is on the leash.

Ivy is a good watch dog – she is protective of her people and very brave for her size.  You will know if anything out of the ordinary is happening around your home.  Her bark is high-pitched and slightly shrill, and she will use it as if she is a combination of Beyonce and Whitney Houston doing encores at the end of a concert.  She is better than most of the alarm systems on the market today!  She is not a huge nuisance barker, but that distinctive voice makes her unsuited for apartment living.

Ivy is hesitant around new humans, but her curiosity is a powerful thing and she will be investigating you soon enough.  She is always in rock & roll, high octane play mode – and wants everyone to play with her.  Her style of play would not be a good fit with small children.  Older kids who can respect her space when she needs it and be her partner in crime the rest of the time would be a better match.  Ivy has not been tested with cats.

Ivy is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  Her adoption fee is $400
