West Highland White Terrier Westie (long coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Small
Learn more about the West Highland White Terrier Westie. Promise is a 3 year old Westie that came to PMR with her sister, Rainbow! They were initially purchased to be bred but as the fates had it, could never get pregnant, so they were surrendered to rescue. Promise & Rainbow are happy dogs; we know they were cared for in their past home. They are always where their foster mom is and happily follow her around the house! True to their breed, they are smart and fast learners, quickly picking the routine of their foster home. They are social with new people and have lived with kids and did very well. Promise & Rainbow likes to be outside, weather permitting, and are doing well on their housetraining while also using potty pads in their foster home. They are still learning and will require additional training in their new homes so please expect accidents. The girls are crate trained and working on their leash skills. At this point, we think a fully fenced yard would be their safest option. No invisible or temporary fences. Both have an interest in cats. Although they have not been aggressive, they are very focused on where they are and it's hard to break their interest. Both are food motivated and if there is any indication the refrigerator is open or food is being prepared, they are right there for anything that may be dropped! Both dogs have very similar personalities. They are loving and gentle. They love toys and chewies. Being brushed and groomed is something they enjoy and have started to like the baths they get. Westies are generally low/minimal shedding dogs but must also be groomed regularly. Promise is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $450
