Oh Burdy Burdy Burdy. After stealing everyone’s heart, you are finally ready for your forever home. Burdy has been in rescue a little over 2 months. Originally, he was found as a stray and turned over to one of our local shelters. It was clear at one point he was someone’s baby. Sadly his person never came for him. So when the shelter reached out to us for help, we knew immediately this boy was meant to be a Pixie. Since Burdy was a stray, his age and breed are the best predictions we can come up with.

When Burdy first arrived, his skin was bright red with patches of missing hair, especially on his back, and very few teeth in his mouth. But his live and exception to his family was stronger than any we have seen before. Burdy’s skin is now a nice normal color. The hair loss is caused by hypothyroidism. He will require medication 2 times a day, and routine bloodwork to make sure his levels are appropriate. The medication is relatively inexpensive and costs around $6 a month. Otherwise, Burdy is as healthy as can be. If you you are looking for a boy to be your baby, look no further. Burdy is completely bonded to his foster mama. Everywhere she goes, Burdy is right behind her. Whether it be the kitchen, the basement, or the bathroom, there’s Burdy. If she’s on the couch, Burdy is on the couch. At bedtime, Burdy is snuggled upright against her. Burdy is quite honestly a perfect boy. He is completely housebroken, excellent on a leash, and fantastic in the car. He gets along well with other dogs. He hasn’t been exposed to cats in his foster home, but we can only assume he would be fine with them as well. He has been around people from 8-80 years old, and he likes them all. But really, what he wants is his mama, or person. He truly only has eyes for his person. He does not have separation anxiety but will cry when you first leave him. He’s sad to see his person leave. But he settles down after a few minutes. The pure joy and happiness in his entire body when you return is like no others. Even if you have simply stepped out to take out the trash, Burdy is so happy you have returned. He is not a dog that requires much of anything. A safe space to potty, food, water, and your warm lap. Burdy doesn’t have many teeth left, but it doesn’t slow him down when it comes to eating. He’s extremely food motivated. He knows very well that after the last potty of the night he is to come in, sit and get a treat. And he won’t let you forget that treat. Our little Burdy is full of kisses too. He likes to be held like a baby and rocked, but bring your cheek near him, and Burdy won’t stop the kisses. In Burdys ideal home, there would be a person home with him the majority of the time. When he starts whining and carrying on when you leave, Burdy can get quite loud. Apartment life may not be ideal for him if you have thin walls. He’s not a big barker though, he will bark when people first come in but that ends fast. A quick hello to the stranger then right back to his mama's lap. If you think Burdy is a match for you, please make sure you apply today. A rescue gem like him, won’t be around long.

Burdy is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  He has also been seen by our vet for bloodwork and medication.   His adoption fee is $300
