Ernie is available for adoption!  Ernie is about 1.5 years old and 28 pounds.  We think he is a cockapoo, a big one at that!  Ernie was an owner surrender, originally from our city shelter.  He was a bit more than they could handle and asked if we could find him a more appropriate home!

Ernie is still a silly puppy at heart!  He has lots of energy and loves to run and play in the yard.  Although he walks on a leash, he really needs a yard to run and play in so that will be a requirement for his new home.  He wants to run and play with someone and does not want to be on a tie out.  He is a calm dog inside, settling in for naps and chewie time near or close to his foster mom.  Ernie is good with other dogs and if there is one in his new home, it should be his size and playful.  No cats - he does not like them, he chases and gets very excited over them. He gets very excited when people come over or when he sees his foster mom when she gets home.  He jumps up and he is a big boy - we are working with him on this but he will need  continued training.  Ernie does not like to be grabbed by the collar - he gets defensive and fearful.  We are assuming that he was 'disciplined' in some form with his collar so it is traumatic for him still.  Sad.  If his foster mom wants him to move and he doesn't come when he is called, she simply puts his leash on and all is well.  He gets so excited when he sees his leash and loves to go for walks.  Older kids only (13+) .  Crate training is coming along well  - he goes in without issue and gets a treat, which he loves.  He will cry and bark initially but settles down in no time.  He is doing very well with housetraining with very few accidents in his foster home but please expect some adjustment time as he learns a new home and routine.  Ernie is starting to learn some basic commands such as sit and down.  He is getting there with some treats and kind words!  Ernie has been groomed and will need regular grooming throughout his life.  We do not think he had much experience with grooming and is still getting accustomed to it.  Ernie is a big baby that just needs a dog savvy owner to help guide him through life.  He is smart, energetic, food motivated and just needs a home that understands his past.  

Ernie is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  His adoption fee is $450
