Buckles is a 3 year old chihuahua mix.  He is approx 12 lbs.  Buckles was found living alone along side some railroad tracks (assumably abandoned there) for about a year.  He was finally caught by our partners in Texas and sent to NY In hopes of finding a forever home.  

Buckles was heartworm positive and treated in Texas.  He tested negative for us in April but will need to remain on heart worm preventative for life.  

Buckles is an old soul.  He is a loner at times and a lover at other times.  He is such a quiet laid back dog sometimes you forget he is here.  He loves to burrow under blankets and there have been many times his foster family has had to search for him in the many dog beds because he burrows so deep you can’t see him.  

Buckles is fostered with other dogs and does well with anyone.  We think he would be fine with kids and cats he is just that laid back.  Buckles does love his foster mom and enjoys being on her lap getting belly rubs.  He also loves to give kisses but he takes you by surprise because he actually does it with his mouth open.  It seems like he will bite your face but the connection is very gentle and sweet.  

Buckles is crate trained and will sometimes ask to go in.  He is a slow eater often times taking an entire day to eat his one meal.  Buckles has marked a few times in his foster home but is Easily corrected.  He is doggy door trained and enjoys his fenced yard.  He will lay outside for long period of time just soaking up the sun on nice days.    

Buckles would do great with almost anyone who just wants a quiet, laid back little buddy to pal around with.  He will make a great companion and a best friend to someone.  If you want that to be you please apply!
