Learn more about the Beagle. Learn more about the Labrador Retriever. YO! I’ll tell you what I want, what I really really want So tell me what you want, what you really really want We know what you really, really want – look out Western New York – the Spice Girls have landed! At the end of 2020, Mama Spice went under the porch of an elderly gentleman to give birth. The area experienced a flood and the mom and her babies were lost. Once the water receded, the elderly gentleman went in search of the small family. He recovered all of them and brought them into his home. Weakened from giving birth and sick from exposure to the elements, Mama Spice died within 24 hours of being found. Knowing he would be unable to care for 4 tiny babies, this kind elderly gentleman surrendered them to our rescue partners in Texas. These small orphans arrived at Pixie Mamas at the end of January, all weighing under 3 lbs., weak, and full of loss and confusion without their mom. In the weeks that followed, however, they grew healthy and strong and are now ready to begin their lives here in New York. We believe they are lab mixes and will be medium-sized dogs when they are full grown. Posh is the glamour puss of the group. Fashionista. Center of attention. Everything is all about her & she is not shy in letting you know that. Her fur is thick and luxurious, a deep auburn brown – and what makes her extra special is the small black heart shape on her tail and her polka-dotted belly! She is such a happy girl – wanting to race around with her sisters and the other foster dogs in the home and bursting with excitement when her foster mom comes home from work or company comes over to visit. She is full of kisses and wants to be part of everything, all the time. She is not shy and was ready to take her place among the older dogs in the home as soon as she was big enough to get out of the play pen. She was the first one out the backdoor to explore the yard - encouraging her sisters to follow, but truly not caring if they actually did. She was on her own adventure! Posh acts like she doesn’t know she is a dog – she thinks she is a gorgeous, diva, super model and we are not going to be the ones to tell her she isn’t!
Posh has seen the other dogs in the house use potty pads while their foster mom is at work and she has started to use the pads herself – especially now that she has realized that a cookie is involved after she does it! She also has started to understand that going outside is for more than play - she is starting to potty outside! It is a work in progress, but she is smart as a whip and a fast learner. As a puppy she is a blank slate – she is a sponge absorbing everything around her at all times. She will need training to be her best self. Please be patient while she is learning – she is still a baby and lost her mama very early in her life. Her life experiences so far are a rag-tag, patchwork quilt sewn together with lots of love, but you need to know that some pieces may be the wrong size, and some pieces may be missing entirely. She needs love, attention, and patience as she now has the opportunity and ability to become the beautiful dog she is meant to be. Posh is scheduled to be spayed on April 9th but we are accepting applications now. She will be spayed, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, flea/worm treated. Her adoption fee is $400
