Learn more about the Rat Terrier.

Bentley is a 6 year old rat terrier mix!  He was abandoned by his owners and set for euthanasia. Bentley is the cutest and the most Sweetest boy in the whole world!  He is sight impaired due to a congenital defect but that doesn’t stop him one bit!  We believe Bentley can see shadows as he doesn’t run into anything and he knows exactly where you are at all times but the object has to be very close for him to even see that! Unfortunately he was also found to be heart-worm positive but he is such a nice dog people rallied for him and therefore rescue was able to step in!  A dog like Bentley is not one we can resist so we were very excited to save him and we have NOT been disappointed!

Bentley is the type of dog that just makes you fall in love with him! He captured the hearts of so many people in Texas.  He then went to a medical foster in Tennessee so he could be treated for heart worm where everyone just fell head over heels in love with him again (Including the vet staff who treated him)!  He has been a foster favorite everywhere he has went.  After all his traveling We are hoping he can can finally find a place to call Home.

Bentley is fostered with other dogs and is fine with everyone he meets.  He doesn’t have a mean bone in his little body.  He obviously can’t really play but he can follow the pack and join in the group for treat time.  He is able to do a few stairs on his own and is so smart he even learned how to come in the doggy door when he is done!  Bentley loves to be talked to and will talk back - especially if you tell him he’s handsome!  The higher pitched your voice goes the more he talks and that tail just goes a mile a minute!

Bentley has been around a 9 year old child and really loved her but we would prefer he goes to a quieter home as we think young active kids full time would just be a lot for him.  Bentley takes treats nicely, he loves cheese, he LOVES car rides and sits so nicely (shotgun of course)!  He is perfectly crate trained- every now and then he will bark but if you tell him no he settles nicely.  We are working on housebreaking.  He is newly neutered and he did mark when he first came.  He is improving now that he understands the routine and knows there the door is.  We would suggest a belly band until he settles into his new home and routine with you!

This little dog has been through so much and has met so many new people who have helped him along the way. He has embraced every change in his life and there have been so many!  He truly loves everyone and is so grateful for anything you do for him, every sweet word you say to him and every kind pet he gets!  He loves couch time and he is one of the most deserving dogs of a forever family!  Please don’t let his impairment get in the way of adopting him.  Bentley is treated like every other dog in his foster home and does perfectly fine.  If you think your family and home are a match for this sweet boy please apply!

Bentley is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and treated for heartworm disease.  He will need to stay on monthly heartworm prevention for the rest of his life.  His adoption fee is $350
