Chihuahua (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Young : : Small
Learn more about the Chihuahua. Itsy bitsy, teeny tiny Martina! What a delicate Southern Belle this beauty is. Her brindle markings are extraordinary; she stands out as soon as she enters a room. She has a beautiful white shirt front, tapering down to a waist small enough to make a super model jealous. She is the star of the show - this girl can work a room!
Martina is around 7 lbs. and approximately 2 years old. She is not a hysterical, nuisance barker – but she will be vocal when protecting her home. When a new person enters, she will bark until she is sure they are safe to have around her family. Then she is right in their lap for pets and doggie kisses.
Martina wants to be with her people. She wants to be in your lap. She will wait outside the bathtub while you shower. She will be there to supervise when you are cooking dinner, and will try to convince you to let her be the official taste tester. She will curl up into the tiniest ball, right up against you, when it is bedtime. She is a living example of a Velcro dog – wherever you are, she is. Her people are the center of her world.
She LOVES the snow. Even though she is small, she will go bounding over those drifts like she was born up here! She will go potty – then romp. Stop to potty again. More romping. A final pee? Maybe – but those snow drifts are calling and off she goes! It is even better when there is another dog to chase through the snow. You can almost hear her saying “Get lost Texas heat & constant sunshine – Western New York winters rock!”
Martina uses potty pads during the day because her foster mom works. She would rather be outside – but she understands the pads and will use them when she has to. Please be patient if she has accidents as she gets used to a new routine in a new home. She is smart as a whip and catches on quickly.
She is not leash trained, so further work by her forever family will be needed for that to be successful. She is also not crate trained. She is relentless in her efforts to escape the crate, and would do so much better gated in a spare room if you feel the need to contain her. She currently runs loose in her foster home and has not caused any issues with property or the other dogs.
Martina is a joyful addition to her foster home. She plays well with the other dogs, has no problem sharing the toys, and lines up with her house mates to go outside at the drop off a hat. She has tested well with cats and children. She is a beautiful girl, inside and out. She would be a blessing to any home. Martina is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $400
