Chihuahua : : Male (neutered)
Learn more about the Chihuahua. Warren Blitzen is a sweet spunky senior who is looking for his forever home. This little guy was turned in as a stray to one of our local shelters. He was lonely and scared in the shelter. All he would do was lay in the back of the kennel with his stuffed animal for comfort. The shelter staff knew he couldn't stay there and immediately reached out to us. On Christmas Eve day, our volunteers sprang into action and freed him. Once home, he was a very different dog. Warren Blitzen was underweight, skinny, and in desperate need of a dental. But that didn't stop this little guy from wanting to jump on the couch and cuddle under a blanket. He was happy to be back in a home and loved again. He is all about the snuggles.
Warren Blitzen is a perfect little gent. He appears house broken, but except accidents at first while adjusting to a new routine. He is good with other dogs and crate trained, but honestly, he does not spend much time in the crate. He has been left alone for up to 6 hours without any accidents. He will also sleep well through the night. Even after a full 8 hours of sleep, Warren needs to be woken up to go outside. He does have a fenced yard in his foster home and is quick to do his business in the colder weather. In typical chihuahua fashion, he is often found cuddled under the blankets in his mamas lap. When we had his dental completed, all of his remaining teeth were removed. So he truly is a toothless wonder. That tongue of his is always hanging out a little. A major surgery like that can often cause a dog to be laid up for a few days. Not our sweet Warren though! With the remaining teeth removed, he feels great! He is now eating like a champ and has put on some weight. He looks and feels great. Sometimes Warren can have a little bit of a "chi-a-tude"with other dogs. It doesn't happen often but comes out once in a while. He is never aggressive but will let the other dogs in his foster home know that he may be older but he has quite a bit of pep in his step still. He definitely makes his foster family laugh at times. He loves to roll on the couch and make his nest. He is full of love and kisses. If Warren is not found on the couch or in his mamas lap, he has no problem sharing a doggie bed with his foster siblings. Warren is a complete velcro dog and will be anywhere his mama is. We are unsure how he is with cats, but we can only assume that he will be fine. Due to the fact that he is so small, we do recommend a home with older children that can be respectful of his size. Warren is excellent in the car and even walks well on a leash. If you think you can give this hunky senior the perfect retirement home, please apply today. Warren is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. He has also been given a dental and had bloodwork done. His adoption fee is $250.
