Learn more about the Chihuahua. And who is this sweet looking boy you ask? Dalton! Dalton is another tiny Texas transplant. He is around 2 or 3 years old and weighs about 6 pounds. We don't have any information on Dalton's past but we do believe he was someone's dog. He appears to be housetrained BUT he is still a chihuahua and still hasn't experienced a winter in Buffalo yet. So please expect accidents and some adjustment time. He walks nicely on a leash too. Dalton is crate trained - but needs to come out on his own accord. Dalton likes to spend his day on his little bed under a blanket. He gets cranky if dogs or people walk too close to him and will growl. I think he thinks he is going to get stepped on. It has gotten better in his foster home so a little time and patience is always key. Dalton does not like to be woken up - he will growl if you take his blanket off him without giving him a heads up. Yes, Dalton is cute but don't let his looks deceive you! He can be a bossy boy and needs someone to tell him he is not in charge. Once that is established, he is a nice little dog that enjoys being picked up and cuddled. Dalton has this weird howl that he lets out - we THINK when he wants something - to go outside, to eat or attention. It's loud so apartments are not going to be considered. We do not think young kids would be ideal in his new home. Cats are a no go too. Dalton is good with other dogs - he did hump a bit when he came but once he got his butt handed to him that stopped. He does not want to lay with the other little dogs in the house and is a bit of a loner. Dalton would be happy as the only dog or with a dog that doesn't care about him either. Although we would love to say that Dalton could go to any home that is not the case. We do not want to set him up for failure. Owner experience with quirky little dogs is preferred.
