Basenji / Mixed (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult
Aww our Pretty Pretty Penny is ready for her forever home. Like so many of our fosters, Penny traveled from Texas in the hopes of finding her forever home. Originally she was in a shelter, and due to her nervousness with new people, Penny was overlooked. That’s when our rescues partners stepped in. Once in a foster home In Texas, it was discovered that she was heartworm positive. She was treated down south and then transferred to us once her treatment was completed. Penny is feeling great now! She’s ready to sit on her family's lap and give you as much as she can. She’s so thankful to be rescued. Penny is a 4-year-old basenji mix. With Penny’s reddish copper coat, that has to be the reason for her name. Shiny just like a Penny. Penny is housebroken and crate trained. She gets along fine with other dogs and doesn’t seem to pay much attention to them. What she really wants is all her person's love. She’s a typical Velcro dog. No matter where we go, Penny will find a way to follow behind. She’s great in the car and does ok on a leash, we are still working on it. Penny is shy at first. But warms up quickly. She would due best in a quieter home with children over 13 years old. She’s a laid back gal who really just wants to cuddle on the couch next to you, or lay on you. She’s always a step behind her foster mama. Penny is not a barker ether. In fact, we haven’t heard her bark yet! Penny does have long lean legs and can clear a gate, so a home with a privacy fence or at least a 5-foot fence is preferred. If you think Penny may be the one for you, make sure you apply today. Penny is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped and flea/worm treated. Her adoption fee is $350
