Learn more about the Chihuahua. Petey is fun, quirky, and clearly very cute! This handsome man is 2 years old and about 10lbs. His owner left him in long term boarding and never came back. Being a shy guy, he wasn’t doing well in a shelter, but they could see his potential. And who did they call? Pixie Mamas! Petey is doing wonderfully in his foster home. He’s crate trained and house trained, though a few accidents can always be expected in a new home. Petey loves going for walks and does great on a leash. He also listens very well to his foster mom. Petey doesn’t like car rides and is extremely nervous throughout. He very willingly gets in the car and he’s quiet for most of the ride, though. His biggest hurdle is with new people. Petey is fearful and doesn’t respond well to strangers, especially men. After some treats, patience, and a bit of time, he does start to come around. Continued socialization and possibly training will be necessary to break this fear. Petey attaches quickly to his owner, he follows his foster mom around everywhere! He gets along great with every dog he’s fostered with, all of whom have been his approximate age and size. He’s also good with cats. Petey doesn’t do well with children under the age of 12. He’s a sweet and loving boy who deserves the best home!
