Wilbur is a precious little beagle mix puppy who came to us from Texas.  We took him as a special needs case knowing he had weak joints - what we didn’t know is he also had a heart murmur and a few abnormal physical characteristics as well. Wilbur is now 7 months old.  He can run and play and do everything a “normal” puppy his age can do.  He was recently seen by Dr. Tamke and had an evaluation of his heart murmur.  She cleared him for his neuter and hernia repair surgery which he will be having 1/8/2018.  She said that at some point in his life (later years) he may need some medication for the heart but right now she is not at all worried about him.  Wilbur is the happiest, sweetest puppy we have ever met in rescue.  He is a small guy and we don’t see him getting even close to a beagle size which makes him all the more adorable.  His tongue is huge so it sticks out of his mouth frequently- just adding to his cuteness.  Wilbur would love nothing more then a family to call his own.  He is a complete lap dog who loves belly rubs and kisses.  He loves children and other playful dogs.  He is crate trained and housebroken but please expect accidents in the transition to his new home. He walks well on a leash but it a little out of practice with all this nasty weather we are having so he may need some work come spring.  Please be aware of the potential financial costs of owning a special needs dog.  Although he needs nothing right now that can change at any time and we would expect his new family to be able to take care of his needs.  Thank you and if you’d like to be considered for Wilbur please apply- he won’t be ready to go until after his surgery on the 8th.
