** Paula Dean Pupdate: Paula Dean has come a long way since she was first rescued! She has learned to play well with others and not to be so greedy with the toys. She realizing that playing with another dog is more fun then by herself. She has also learned to walk on a leash and adores car rides! She has learned to do steps! She is fully pee pad trained and slowly getting use to be going outside to enjoy the big beautiful world. Up until recently that world was not so nice to this southern belle. She, of course, still adores her treats. That's not such a bad thing, it motivates her to get over her shyness with new people!

Say hey y'all to Paula Dean!  Miss PD is an 8 yr old, 18 (!) pound female shih tzu puppy mill survivor.  And yes she enjoys a good meal it seems!

Paula Dean is learning to be a pet now!  Although she is shy at first with humans, but treats always wins her over!   Her foster mom really likes to spoil her!  She loves to be the boss of the group- and can be seen stealing all the toys and hoarding them. She tries to dominate her fur brothers, but what girl doesn't?! She is pee pad trained, and working on becoming completely housebroken. She is fearful of the leash, but that will come with time and patience. She will require a fully fenced in yard as she will run if you reach for her and another submissive dog in the house ( remember she is the boss, no aggression but will try to mount the other dog). An adult puppy mill rescue does best with another dog in the home to give them a level of comfort and model behavior. Please research some of the challenges associated with puppy mill dogs. She has stiff back legs, so a home with limited steps would be best for this lovely lady! She can be a bit barky when she wants her meals and treats! Older children will be fine - she wants a calm and quieter home. She does well with children, but they do scare her and cause her to hid!  Miss Dean is right on the verge of blossoming - wouldn't you like to right all the wrongs she endured?

Paula Dean is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated, heartworm neg and has been given a dental.  Her adoption fee is $275 - please apply on our website!

Paula Dean's adoption fee has been sponsored for $50  - you can now adopt her for $225!!!
